Beach Umbrella Safety

A series of accidents have occurred involving beachgoers impaled by umbrellas, most recently in New Jersey and in Ocean City, Maryland.

This hazard has the potential to turn a fun summer day into a catastrophe. The experts at Beach Umbrella Safety offer these tips to stay safe:

  • anchor your umbrella
  • make sure 18 to 24 inches of the umbrella pole are beneath the sand
  • tilt the umbrella into the wind to prevent gusts from getting under the umbrella
  • use your judgment: don’t use an umbrella if it’s windy

Stay safe on the beaches this summer. As always, should you become injured as the result of another’s liability, contact our attorneys at (215) 567-1530.
