Fall Prevention on the Job

According to OSHA, falls are the number one cause of accidents in the construction industry today. In 2015, falls were the leading cause of construction job fatalities. Employees who are elevated more than six feet from the next level are at a high risk for serious injury or death.

In an effort to combat fall tragedies, OSHA launched a three-step fall prevention campaign that employers can follow to keep help workers safe. The steps are: plan, provide, and train. A full rundown of the campaign can be found on the OSHA fall prevention website.  OSHA also requires that employers train their employees to recognize when they are at risk for a fall and teach employees how to minimize that risk.
