NJ/PA Motorcyclists – When the Weather’s Fine, the People Will Ride: Part 4

As we all know, it’s that time of year when motorcycles get on the road. As the weather warms up, it’s time to check your insurance coverage and be ready in case the worst happens. In this post, we talk about what to look for in your PIP coverage.  You can also check out our previous posts on a variety of other insurance issues, and please be sure to keep an eye out for updates to this series.

PIP Coverage

PIP stands for personal injury protection. This is how much of your medical bills your own insurance will cover when you’re injured in a car accident whether it’s your fault or not. When you first go to the emergency room or seek treatment, be sure to tell your medical provider that your injuries are from a car accident and give them your auto insurance policy information so they can bill the right insurance.  When applying for your policy, you can decide how much PIP coverage you want. In PA, the minimum is $5,000 for PIP medical protection.  You can also get some wage protection through PIP.
