Social Media and the Workplace

It is becoming increasingly rare to find someone who is not involved with or affected by social media on a daily basis. Often, people will post without thinking about the consequences. This could result in a loss of employment  if someone posts negatively about their employer.

Businesses themselves can run into legal problems if an employee reveals confidential information on social media. Businesses should make preventative moves by including sections discussing social media in confidentiality agreements and policies. All employee agreements, including non-solicitation agreements, should protect against the spread of confidential information in all forms, including social media.

The attorneys at Leonard Sciolla can assist you in handling employment related issues, including drawing up social media policies for businesses and their employees. For help with employment matters, contact John Leonard or Keith Leonard via email or by calling (215) 567-1530.
